he oldest Hawaiian Island, it's believed the first Polynesian settlers arrived in Kauai some 500 years before arrived in Kauai some 500 years before arriving on the other islands. With a landscape of winding rivers, silvery waterfalls, vibrant flowers and succulent papaya trees, it's also believed this "Garden Isle" is Hawaii's most beautiful. Countless film makers and artists who have found their vision of paradise here would likely agree!

rom the scalloped cliffs and valleys along the Na Pali Coast, setting of the movie "South Pacific," to breathtaking Waimea Canyon, dubbed the "Grand Canyon of Pacific" by Mark Twain, the scenery on Kauai is an easy island to explore with hour drive. Most of the island's population lives on the Coconut Coast, also a popular resort center. The town of Libue is here, as is Hawaii's only navigable river, the Wailua. A boat trip on the Wailua to the natural amphitheater at Fern Grotto is one of the island's favorite activities. Other fantastic resort areas include serene Princeville, set overlooking Hanalei Bay, and Poipu, home of Kauai's best developed beaches.
