This historic sea coast town also boasts modern offerings like restaurants, shopping and water sports; and is renowned for Kona Coffee and as the Blue Marlin capital of the Pacific. Other Big Island resort destinations include the Kohala Coast, the birthplace of Kamehaneba and home to most of the island's grand resort hotels; and Hilo, a picturesque town surrounded by rainforest, waterfalls and orchid farms. Hilo is also the gateway to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the steamy home of the world's most active volcano - Kilauea.
