ms Noordam
The 33,930-gross-ton ms Noordam is a floating masterpiece, featuring the luxury of a resort hotel amid state-of-the-art onboard technology. The 704-foot-long Noordam, sister ship to the ms Nieuw Amsterdam, was launched in 1984. The Noordam -- third Holland America Line ship to bear the name -- carries 1,214 guests and a crew of 542. The Noordam has a $2 million collection of art and artifacts continuing a tradition of on-board artwork that began in 1938 with the famous ss Nieuw Amsterdam II. Treasures from the 17th and 18th Century reflect a time of adventure and exploration. The Noordam features 20 mini suites, each offering a sitting area, refrigerator and additional sofa bed. Each spacious stateroom is equipped with individually controlled air conditioning, telephone with computerized wake-up service, multi-channel music system and closed circuit television. Also, four staterooms have been equipped to accommodate physically challenged guests.
