osta Cruises enjoys the reputation of being Europe’s number one cruise line. The Italian company, with headquarters in Miami, has been hosting passengers since 1948, when the line switched from its business of transporting olive oil to a passenger line.

osta’s six-ship fleet sails eastern and western Caribbean, Mediterranean, northern Europe, South America, Baltic and Russia, and transatlantic itineraries. The ships run the gamut from the intimate to the super-luxurious: The CostaMarina and CostaAllegra carry 800 passengers, while the line’s newest vessel, the CostaVictoria can accommodate a whopping 1,950 passengers. Costa has a new ship in the works. The 82,000-ton, 2,100 passenger cruise ship will be delivered from Finland’s Kvaerner Masa-Yards sometime in the year 2000.
